PETITION TO THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF SURREY, BC



We, the undersigned, hereby petition the City of Surrey to amend the Special Events Regulation By-law, 2002, No. 14731. The amendment should clearly state that all Surrey public events are required to have adequate recycling facilities on-site during the event. This amendment is necessary since there are no clear laws or provisions for recycling at public events in Surrey. As such, many beverage containers, cardboard, plastics and other recyclables are sent to landfills.

    • Not only should recycling bins be mandatory but event organizers should be fined or not allowed to have events if they do not comply. Furthermore people should be required to use only recyclable containers to hand out food.
