I/We believe the use of the Bentinck Void/Lake area, as a landfill site, will have a devastating effect on the health and quality of life of the local communities in the surrounding villages.

It will also have a catastrophic effect on the wildlife now inhabiting the area.

I/We demand the plans to use this area of natural beauty as a landfill site, be abandoned and thus allow the area to continue its own restoration and provide a beneficial public amenity.

    • Would probably like to see the government find some ways to make less rubbish in the first place instead of finding new places to put it all, really. And don't quite see why post-industrial wildlife hotspots are any less valuable than those that are protected by law - if this isn't. Try again

    • I have kept records of bird sightings at this site for the last 12 months and can honestly say that if landfill occurs here then it will be to the detriment of the environment. Full records are available if required. The site provides breeding habitat for a number of waterbirds, winter quarters for gulls, plovers, Short-eared Owl and pipits, larks and chats as well as Jack Snipe (a scarce bird in England). I feel better use of the land would be as a sympathetically managed nature reserve.
