If you've every played the disc golf course in Bryan Park and enjoyed it, you need to sign this petition. Some members on the local city government have come to the conclusion that the back nine holes need to be removed (or at best relocated).

The park is a draw for people outside of our local area because it's a beautiful course. It's helped grow the sport of disc golf in our local community and now with so many people interested in playing disc golf, we need more holes and courses to accommodate the amount of players - not fewer.

We disc golfers would like to respectfully ask the local government to reconsider the displacement of the back 9 holes in Bryan Park and to leave them as is (with the existing agreement with the park to move tees/baskets as necessary to keep the park fertile).

    • I have lived in Richmond and the Lakeside area for 57 years. I think the disc golf course is great, these guys try to help take care of things, and really enjoy the park. I strongly support the idea of keeping the back nine holes. In playing there I do not encounter many people and find the golfers try to watch out for those who may be near by. I hope we don't lose this wonderful part of the course. Guy Holloway Senior Pastor Grace Community Baptist Church

    • The Disc golf course has been one of the best things to ever happen to Bryan Park. It has brought families and people of all ages together who now enjoy the park on a more frequent basis. I have been coming to the park for more than 30 years and have never seen so many people enjoy it like they do now. Disk Golf would help to keep the park clean, and we all look out for one another as well as others who enjoy the park who do not play frisbee golf. Disc Golfers come from many states to play this course. It would be a shame to lose the back 9 holes, which are some of the best features.

    • Most popular course in Richmond. Most talked about Richmond course outside of Richmond. The Park system is meant to get people out and exercising. This course accomplishes that goal.

    • A lot of hard work went into this course. Would hate to see it go because people don't want to see a measly basket from Lakeside Ave.

    • I've had the good fortune to play Bryan Park -- My brother and I made a roadtrip down from the D.C. area for the express purpose of experiencing the renowned disc golf course your city offers. Bryan Park, as is, is a huge attraction for the disc golfing community and is the only park in the area that has national recognition and is a draw for top-caliber players. The current land is ideal, and I hope to see the park retain the course's current design and layout. I look forward to my next trip down to Richmond and am grateful for the hard work of the parks and rec department to add tremendous value to the city. Thank you.

    • I just started playing disc golf and this has to be the most beautiful course I've played on thus far. What is the purpose of removing the holes? Wouldn't you think seeing people doing something and enjoying themselves attract more people to come to the park?

    • This course is one of my favorite and it's in my backyard. I am a 42 year old physical therapist and I've lived in the neighborhood for years. The course has made me feel much safer while in the park walking. The areas in question were never utilized BY ANYONE before the course was put in. It is so good to see people enjoying them now and being respectful of others. Please don't move the course--if anything, add more holes--to accomodate the oversupply of golfers that have arisen since the course was established. We need more people getting out and enjoying this park, not less. Thank you.

    • Disc Golf is a huge attraction at this park. It will be extremely unfortunate to remove these back 9 holes and ruin the hike you take through this beautiful park.
