WHEREAS, The Lower Merion School District (LMSD) is currently constructing two (2) new high schools with a combined Full Time Equivalent Capacity of 3,287 students and a combined Rated Pupil Capacity of 3,632 students; and,
WHEREAS, the combined projected high school enrollment for the LMSD is 2,194 students for 2009/10; 2,161 students for 2010/11; 2,097 students for 2011/12; 2,141 students for 2012/13; and, 2,101 students for 2013/14; and,
WHEREAS, the LMSD is proposing a redistricting plan in order to address the fact that the new high schools are too large and are not properly located relative to the population distribution of the District.
NOW, THEREFORE, we the undersigned residents of the Lower Merion School District do hereby request that the Pennsylvania Department of Education immediately rescind the PlanCon approval of Harriton High School and Lower Merion High School and require the LMSD to present a comprehensive high school modernization program with defined high school capacities and boundaries to the voters for approval.

- The Board and Administration of LMSD have not provided a valid explanation of why redistricting is even necessary. With projected maximum enrollment of 2,200 students between the two high schools, LMSD should keep the current boundaries.

- Please rescind this approval. If you could have watched the entire 'process', you would have seen that this entire plan was designed to 'game' the state funding system at the expense of LMSD students, taxpayers, and PA taxpayers. Now, let's make the plan one that does indeed benefit the STUDENTS, the parents, and the taxpayers.

- As a relative newcomer to LM, I am wondering why issues of projected student enrollment numbers and the apportioning of students between the 2 high schools arise AFTER construction is well underway. Shouldn't these issues have been resolved in the planning stages?

- this travesty is exactly what happens when a small group of people is allowed to control a situation with no controls on their decisions. Now the taxpayer and the students they claimed to helping are all suffering.

- Opinion: 1.)LMSD cooked the books to steal new voter rights granted by PA. LMSD stockpiled cash, forged an artificially high yearly budget, followed with an artificially low yearly budget and succeeded in stealing new taxpayer voting rights. The low yearly budget was artificially ~$18,000 under the taxpayer vote threshold on a $170,000,000+ budget. The CEO, CFO and the Board simply didnt want let taxpayers vote. 2.)LMSD also cooked the books to circumvent the Taj Mahal school construction law. 3.) LMSD spends nearly $30,000/student/year versus, both, Radnor and T/E(Conestoga), each at about $20,000/student/year. The $10,000/student/year variance remains both unexplained and unimaginable. Its $69,000,000 lost every year or $10,000/student/year X 6,900 students. LMSD has no monthly financial variance reporting. CEO and CFO have both recently retired. A joke we need consultant for redistricting.

- The school board has reckloessly disregarded the voters of Lowere Merion in doing everything in its power, including lies, deceit, fraud, and disregard for the law, in deciding the fate of millions of dollars of taxpayer's money. The former CEO of the school district and its Board should be investigated by a task force or grand jury and brought up on charges should an investigation prove they have lied, misused their office, or committed an actionable crime.
