Braintree Council plans to shut down Braintree Tourist Information Centre. We the undersigned, feel that this would be of detriment of the town as
tourism in Braintree is important to the economy, it generated over 160 million in 2008 and supported 1,915 full time equivalent jobs. Braintree is a fast growing town, these new people need a port of call that can tell them where everything is. Residents use the centre for information on what's on locally for them and thier families, as well as to buy items such as Bus Timetables and tickets for local events.

To shut down this centre would be short sighted, as in the long term when tourists and residents that aren't sure where to go to stay, eat or where to take the children to local attractions and evens will be more likely to spend their money elsewhere. This will have a negative impact on our towns economy. People need to be able to access a customer facing representative to this town, to be able to promote the Town and all it's services effectively.

    • yet another short sighted move by Braintree Council - why take a valuable service away from the town centre? Where else are the many peaople who but their monthly and weekly bus tickets expected to go to get one? travel to Colchester or Chelmsford? THINK braintre council, THINK - actually listen to the public for once!
