Save the Maplenol Dairy Barn at Valley High School

We, the undersigned, ask the following of the West Des Moines Community School District School Board:

1. A formal commitment that NO demolition of the Maplenol Barn will occur for at least 90 days from January 07, 2011.

2. A commitment to cast the net wider to find experts, funding, community involvement.

3. That the district change their strategy from where can we dispose the Maplenol Barn, to how can we make the Maplenol Barn a showpiece and backbone of our expansion project? How can we make the expansion project fit in with the existing barn or use the community treasure and landmark to meet educational objectives similar to the way Bennett School has been used?

4. That the district set a sale price for the barn and a price for removal of the barn.

The barn is more than just a building. It is a piece of Iowa history and every effort of preservation should be explored.
