This petition is in response to Myspace users having pictures of a nursing child deleted. Our goal in signing this petition is to open the eyes of not only the men and women who run Myspace.com, but also to the public that there is NOTHING offensive or indescent about a mother and child nursing. Breastfeeding is a natural thing and is something that no woman should be made to feel embarrassed about. It is legal in EVERY state to breastfeed in public where any woman and child have the right to be. It is sad that even in this day and age that a woman is expected to retreat to a bathroom or her vehicle to feed her child because it "offends" someone. Myspace has been deleting countless pictures and graphics of a breastfeeding child/mother, yet the ads on their very own home page normally contain scantilly clad women. Not only that, but finding young children in barely there clothing is no hard task. We are asking that the Myspace staff recognize the rights of its users to post their pictures of breastfeeding proudly. If every state allows a woman to breastfeed in public without a law being broken, then why does Myspace have an issue with it?

    • I completely agree that it is ridiculous & unfair to remove breastfeeding pictures from Myspace. This is only keeping breastfeeding "under wraps", which is a huge contributer to the breastfeeding problem we have here in the U.S.

    • I am a mother and I love my daughter enough to not be ashamed... with all the nudity on myspace, I am surprised that they would take a stand against something so natural... drugs, pornography, sexual solicitation and spam... but this is an issue that they have chosen to start an issue over. It's very disheartening.

    • Hopefully the publicity generated by this ridiculous story will further interest and education in regard to breastfeeding. It was surprising to learn that something as wholesome, natural and healthy as breastfeeding is viewed as indecent on MySpace, which seems to be okay with all sorts of trashiness.

    • Breastfeeding is beautiful and healthy. By banning pictures of breastfeeding mothers you are sending the message that it is something dirty. Breastfeeding is a legal and protected practice. The surgeon general of the United States promotes breastfeeding. The Blueprint for Action on Breastfeeding encourages images of breastfeeding as the normal way to feed infants in most places women and their infants go.

    • Is ashamed that we dont provide mothers that have the courage to breastfeed, because it is a rare thing for people to say they breastfed there children that we shame them into thinking there is something wrong. Heaven help the person that interjects there opinion of my choice as a mother to breastfeed.

    • Breastfeeding has been done for thousands of years. There are way more people on MySpace with very obscene issues than women posting pictures of their baby breastfeeding. Although I don't think it's right for parents to put pictures of their children on the internet, I do believe a parent shouldn't be bashed for doing the most natural thing a mother can do to feed her child.
