Camden Buckingham introduced Valet waste service earlier this month (June 2008), that is to collect trash bags from the apartment door and put in the trash contain next to the building.
Although there is currently no charge for for the service but according to Camden Buckingham office there will be a charge of $25 to $30 per month for Valet Waste Service, when you renew you lease next time. These charges will in addition to $7 per month trash charges we currently pay. And there is no way to opt out of the valet waste service regarding whether the residents need it or not (wants to use it or not) they will have to pay for it.
We (residents) of Camden Buckingham feel this is a good service for those "who need", however it should be optional and everyone should not be forced to pay for it if they dont want to use it. This is tough economic with the gas prices rising to more then $4, everyone is struggling to reduce their overhead expense and survive. It is not fair to force resident to pay for the service by making it part of the lease agreement. Such decision doesnt reflect sound judgment and could negatively impact the rating of Camden community in the market and could potentially force residence to move out to other surrounding communities.
If there are issue with managing trash in the container the management should find way to address it rather then forcing the service and dumping the cost to residents. We strongly condemn such aggressive tactics and request the management to re-consider the decision and offer this as optional service and not force everyone to pay if they don't want to use it.
We appreciate your attention to this situation and look forward to your positive response.
This matter will be called to the attention of Better Business Bureau (BBB.org), Texas apartment association, Apartment association of Greater Dallas, City of Richardson, Dallas Morning News, apartments.com, rent.com, apartmentguide.com, dallasapartmentguide.com and move.com.

- I dont think this is fair, besides the water and cable fees. That's ridiculous.
