We, the Undersigned residents of Clallam County hereby Petition the Clallam County Board of Commissioners to take NO Action in revising, altering or changing the County Noise/Disturbance Code 15:30.
Proposed changes to the County Noise Ordinance were introduced at the July 1, 2008
Board of Commissioners Meeting.
A review of the changes and public input was discussed at the July 15 Board Of
Commissioners meeting. The citizens present were overwhelmingly Against changing
the current noise ordinance.
The new ordinance proposed by the Clallam County Commissioners will severely limit or cancel completely our ability to to pursue personal enjoyment of hobbies and activities on our property and in our homes. These rights and liberties are the foundation of what it means to be an American.
Changing the noise ordinance in any way will make thйgeneral population of Clallam County subject to the whims and prejudices of a very select Elitist Few.
The Sheriffs Citizens Advisory Committee held a meeting on August 27, 2008. At that meeting Sheriff Benedict updated the group regarding three properties which he claimed were causing problems because of certain activities, and were the main reason given for changing the existing noise ordinance. He reported the problems were resolved or eliminated through other means.
This illustrates one of our points accurately: that you can solve disturbance/noise issues without subjecting the 40,985* residents in the unincorporated area of Clallam County to a Draconian, Arbitrary, Vague and Poorly written noise ordinance.
We trust the current noise/disturbance Clallam County code 15:30 to be effective, satisfactory and meets the needs of the residents of the Unincorporated area of the County.
The cities of Port Angeles, and Sequim already have city codes that effectively take care of noise/disturbances within their respective city limits.

- Do we need a new sheriff ALREADY? A recall election? Mike Chapman is leaving the office of commissioners because he ignored the will of the people. Clearly there are other political suicides underway now. Unnecessary, Arbitrary, Elitist driven power hungry over-regulatory fanaticism. Time for those that fled the concrete jungle to adapt to our rural lifestyle, or simply go back to when they came from. Is this a Nazi Power Trip or the result or actual complaints from large numbers of citizens? Grow up and stop submitting these stupid proposals. Don't we have enough heavy handed government already?

- Even excess speeding, on the hiway, has a " Limit ". A " visual " is used for a speeding ticket at times but not an accurate measure breaking the law. This proposed law is open to abuse by property owners and the Sheriff's interpretation of how noisy something is leaves alot to be desired!

- Why stop people from living freely, having fun, enjoying the GREAT PNW because of a few who want silence? Life happens. Let's enjoy it to the fullest, and encourage our children and adults to use common sense by the ordinance already in place. 10PM to 6AM. The county can use a chain saw at 2AM, on N.Brook Ln., but we can't ride a motorcycle at 2PM?? Something's wrong with this scenario!!
