A petition designed to lobby support for Curt Flood's induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame for his major contributions on the field--2 World Series Championship Titles, 7 Gold Gloves--as well as off the field (he challenged baseball's reserve clause in the Supreme Court, paving the way for modern free agency, not only in baseball but in all professional sports).

- My father played with Curt back in the 50's when they were teammates with the Cincinatti Reds. He said that he was one of the greatest outfielders of all-time. Moreover, every educated professional athlete, no matter the sport, pays great homage to Curt for ending economic slavery amongst all players. No doubt that Curt Flood should be into Cooperstown ~ YESTERDAY!!!

- Curt Flood's contribution to baseball is unique and far-reaching. He was a pioneer in the effort by ballplayers to receive a fair share of the revenues generated by their exploits on the field. He deserves to be enshrined at Cooperstown. I lived in Atlanta as a youth and, quite naturally, looked up to Henry Aaron. Mr. Aaron came to my high school one day and gave a talk. During that address, he urged us to put our talents to work for our own good, rather than allowing anyone to exploit us. As I look back, I can see how the concern that Mr. Flood addressed was a matter of critical importance to all players, and one about which stars like Henry Aaron had deep feelings, too. Curt Flood essentially sacrificed his distinguished playing career to the goal of making baseball more equitable for baseball players. He is worthy of recognition.
