We, the undersigned, support the legalization of cannabis in the city of Chicago, Illinois, in accordance with the language and goals of the Cannabis Legalization and Regulation Pilot Act.
This initiative does not support the consumption of cannabis, but rather the reality that its criminalization wastes resources that would be better used for more important priorities. Furthermore, we assert that criminalization of cannabis creates more safety concerns for society as a whole than the effects of the plant itself.
For these reasons and more, we support the inclusion of the Cannabis Legalization and Regulation Pilot Act on the ballot for the general election on November 2, 2010, for the consideration of the voters of Chicago, Illinois.
