Dear Chino Latino management and ownership,
As local and national community members, we are angered and appalled by Chino Latino's blatant use of racism in advertising. These public displays of racism and race stereotypes are an embarrassment to the Twin Cities landscape, a slap in the face to those of us who have had to encounter and endure taunts, verbal abuse, and violence based on racist stereotypes. These billboards help create an atmosphere where racial abuse is not only tolerated, but encouraged. Chino Latino cannot pretend to honor the food of people of color while disrespecting the very people and culture from which your menu is appropriated, people who must live with the consequences of Chino Latino's ad campaign.
We, the undersigned, demand that you
1) Make written assurances that you will never display the ad Happy Hour: Cheaper than a Bangkok Brothel in the future
2) Issue a public apology, including printed ads in local presses
3) Discontinue your current advertising strategy which profits from racist and demeaning depictions of Asian and Latino/a people. Specifically, we demand you cease all advertising references to Asian and Latino/a culture and people, with written assurances to this effect
Until the above demands are met, we will boycott Chino Latino, all restaurants owned by Parasole Restaurant Holdings (Figlio Restaurant and Bar, Mannys Steakhouse, The Good Earth, Muffuletta Cafй) and the affiliated restaurants Buca di Beppo and Oceanaire.

- Your racist advertising, pathetically hidden behind the guise of "edgy advertising", is a disgrace and supports the racist power structure. I refuse to patronize any Parasole franchises.

- Chino Latino should be sued for using our labels since they profit from our cuisine and since they themselves (minus the kitchen staff) are just a bunch of white racist yuppies.

- I've worked with Thai women and children in Thailand who are exploited and murdered by prostitution. It is painful to see a US company using this kind of tragedy to promote their business. Shame on Chino Latino.

- This kind of advertising is not acceptible. If you define it as "edgy" instead of racist; I'd say that's pretty ignorant. Clearly you're hurting people; why persist in denial? It's easy to be edgy without being negative.

- I am proud to be an Asian man living in America. However, I am tired of the media and corporate entities, like yourselves, that still believe it is acceptable to propagate racial stereotypes, specifically against me and my fellow Asian people. As a professional Aerospace Engineer, I vote with my wallet. I will not only boycott all of your associated businesses, but will also strongly encourage any and all of my family, business associates and acquaintances to do so as well.

- This is once again a slap in the face to those who have struggled for equality and the end of demeaning representations of immigrant groups. I strongly believe this is another example of corporate and institutional racism. You have lost another customer.

- I am disgusted with Chino Latino's ad campaign and I have never set foot in their establishment, nor will I ever set foot in their paternalistic restaurant that exotifies my culture.

- This backlash has been a long time coming. Its about time members of the Twin Cities community take a stand against China Latino's blatantly racist and offensive ads. How many times do I have to drive down Hennepin Ave and throughout various parts of the metro area and be bombarded by these ignorant statements based on played out racial stereotypes? If the goal is to attract privileged yuppies who enjoy consuming puesdo-cultured experiences, well then youre right on track, but you can count the rest of us out.
