We need to reinstate corporal punishment in Indianas public schools! It was used frequently in my schools growing up and it proved to be a very effective deterrent to misbehavior. It was never used excessively and it was applied in a fair way.

Paddling in school is a tangible consequence which makes a student think twice before breaking a rule. We wonder why we have so many crimes taking place in our country. What kind of lesson are we teaching children when we provide no discipline or structure to guide them?

Discipline practices at our schools must improve!!!

    • i am a concerned parent with the IPS school system. i volunteer with the school and i am a proud contributor to the teacheers and staff. i frequently order deliveries for the staff and i have thrown pizza parties for the kids in my daughters class. having said that i am very disturbed by the behavior of many of the kids. many of them are bullies. they are not disciplined at home so when the teachers are in charge of them they have no consequences for their actions. i used to get paddlings if i misbehaved. this generation of kids are overly privleged and over pretected. so pretected to the point that they cannot be corrected when they are wrong. if the parents dont like corporal punishment they should move to a state where their children can get away with murder. i practice firm fair and consistent corporal punishment in my home and have had very few problems with behavior concerning my daughter. she is 11 and i get many compliments on how well behaved she is. like it or not corporal punishment works!!!!!

    • I agree we need corporal punishment back in schools. The children nowdays aren't punished for the rules they break at school. Kicking them out of school is more like a welcome vacation than what it is meant to be ....punishment.
