Request to hold Special General Membership Meeting to conduct a ratification vote

To the President of CUPE Local 3906,

Despite information presented to the contrary at the Special General Membership Meeting that was held on Nov. 1st, 2009, review of the Ontario Labour Relations Act, CUPE National Constitution, CUPE Ontario Constitution and CUPE 3906 By-laws has shown that under section 11.1 and 9c of the by-laws, the membership is entitled to petition the President to hold a Special General Membership Meeting to hold a ratification vote just as we would petition for any other Special General Membership Meeting.

Therefore, we, the undersigned members of CUPE 3906, request that a Special General Membership Meeting be convened to hold a ratification vote on the Universitys current offer.

We request that this Special General Membership Meeting be advertised in accordance with CUPE 3906 by-law 9c by being called immediately by the President and providing at least 48 hours of notice to the members of the time, location and business to be conducted at the meeting. We also request that this Special General Membership Meeting be scheduled such that the result of the ratification vote may be known as early as possible given the constraints set by the by-laws, and no later than Monday November 9th at 11:59 pm.
