Re: The Restructuring of Columbine Elementary School

We, the undersigned, wish to express our support for the teachers and staff at Columbine Elementary School and recognize the tremendous work that they have done at Columbine throughout the years. The decision made by Superintendent King to force all Columbine staff to re-apply for their jobs, whatever the motives and rationale, was demoralizing not only to the teachers and staff, but also to the parents, children, neighbors, and friends of the school. We feel that the decision was counter-productive to the goals of improving the achievement levels and culture of the school.

We do not support Superintendent Kings decision to make this change at this time. We ask that the decision to have all current teachers and staff re-apply for their jobs be revoked immediately. We ask that you allow the teachers a one-year grace period under the new leadership at Columbine to cultivate and apply the program created by the upcoming Instructional Visioning process. We ask that only after that one-year grace period will current teachers be evaluated concerning their futures at Columbine.

We, the undersigned, are the people who the school is supposed to serve, and the people who want our input into the restructuring heard.
