I submit this petition to request that a skatepark be built for the public of East Ayrshire. It is a disgrace that the many Skateboarders, Rollerbladers and BMX'ers who live in the kilmarnock area have to travel so far to use skatepark facilities. Kilmarnock has a lot of run down wasteland area not being used, and could be used to build a skatepark. Many people from kilmarnock, and even outlying districts would come to use this facility and as well as giving us some place safe to practice our sport, it would be beneficial to the local economy. Skateboarding and BMXing are big business in this day and age and East Ayrshire need to waken up to this fact.

    • One of my hobbies isnt skating, but my younger cousin is very fond of the sport and is therefore having to travel to ayr and stevenson to skate with his friends... so i think that having one in kilmarnock is very useful for kids that are very fond of the sport and spares them the money to travel.

    • I believe for the minority of youths within the Kilmarnock area who have managed to fathom and maintain a keen interest in a sport rather than wasting their youth hanging around street corners with nothing better to do than binge drink, deserve nothing less than a ground to keep their interests active; especially in such a depressing time for the country.

    • I feel it is time that East Ayrshire started rewarding the youths who have such keen interests in sporting. They spend so much of their time helping these youths who would rather binge drink at the shop corner. If they can build football grounds, why can they build a skatepart aswell, as both sports are just as popular.
