We undersigned support keeping of harmless exotic pets such as birds, reptiles, invertebrates, small mammals and ornamental fish, living in Alternative Environment, which is Domestic, ZOO and Aquarium settings. We do not support keeping those species of which there is scientific or statistic proof, that they are a danger to public.
We strongly oppose Laws, Bylaws and other Restrictions that contravene Charter of Rights and Freedoms, which are legislated out of limitation of Council authority to legislate. Also those Bylaws and restrictions, which were/are legislated based on false, misleading information of so called Animal Rights Extremists and not on facts, statistics or findings of Scientists or animal keepers. We believe strongly that public if educated properly, is smart enough to make their own decisions to decide what kind of animal they will love or keep as pet.
We oppose restrictions on Educational Presentations, which include exotic pets. We understand, that those activists, which are calling for banning on educational presentations are doing so to create misinformation of public, including children, which produce misunderstanding, resulting in unreasonable fear of virtually harmless animals.
We oppose outlawing keeping of exotic animals, because we realize that it will lead to death and extinction of thousands virtually harmless pets, striving in Alternative Environment.

- Dogs and horses pose a far greater threat than reptiles do. To ban reptiles before horses and dogs is nothing short of hypocracy. Lets make decisions based upon science and reason, not fear, misinformation and prejudice.

- What a sad world we live in when a few so called "animal rights" groups feel it is necessary to impose their irrational views on the rest of us. These groups become instrumental in trying to take the rights away from children and adults to become educate, to keep, care for, and breed these incredibly fascinating animals. There is enough propaganda and misinformation in the world without having these groups propose these ridiculous bans on exotics with nothing more than what they have to say. I believe that facts, nonbiased statistics, and logic will prevail in the end...unlike the misguided beliefs and the emotionally charged rhetoric that these groups present to the public. - I'm astonished at killers like BCSPCA, who killed more than thousand innocent roosters and now they want to see all our pets dead. Shame on you SPCA and Vancouver Humane Society. They claim they are animal lovers but they are just plain animal killers.

- making a law of of making exotic animals illigal to own is outragous, they will just end up dead. what if we make a law saying certain humans are dangerous and they should be dead, would that go through NO, so why should this go through, it's no different if it is an animal or a human, there all living creatures.

- I don't think many people understand the term "Exotic". Tropical fish like the Betta, birds like budgies, finches and parrots, most lizards and many turtles are not native to bc. Saying that my Tropical fish tank kills people is misguided at best. Please for all animals sake, open your eyes and your ears to the facts right in front of you.

- i have seen what happens from groups that claim there for the animal by killing them,it kills the animal and it kills the human who was fortunate to make a bond with a creature from the wild it devast them also,we as humans who love animal know it is a very special to be choosen from a creature to be there companion,these organiztion who claim there for the animal no nothing about that animal nature,personalit nothing,they have no rite to play god,only god can do that,let us people who love animals love them,that r choose as a free species,it is also r responsibility,so stop playing god and let nature be natural by us bonding with it,mary wille
