On April 3, 2003, a complex and exciting computer game made by Digital Anvil and published by Microsoft revolutionized the computer gaming industry. It became a best seller for a few weeks in some countries. Fans of all types began creating modifications, discussing the game, but most of all, they wanted a sequel.
"Freelancer" has brought hundreds of clans together with all these fans. It is still, by far, a very popular game. Hundreds of modifications were made by players from around the world. A web site was even made that is dedicated to Freelancer and its prequel, Starlancer.
Nowadays, "Freelancer" is STILL an extremely well-known game because of it's multiplayer capabilities and the ability to choose where the player, not the developers, may choose his or her own path. A server operator was made to prevent cheating and enhance multiplayer features, known as IONCROSS (http://www.ioncross.com/).
We of the Lancers Reactor (http://www.lancersreactor.com/), Freeport 3 (http://www. freeport3volution.com/) and other clans and players from around the world would like to see a sequel to the game. Even an expansion pack of some sort would be very exciting!
We would like to see some improvements and expanded options in future versions. For example, we would appreciate a more advanced server operator with improved anti-cheat capabilities. Developing past systems and planets would desirable as well. Also, a widely expanded selection of pilotable ships, including transports and other capital ships, would be welcome, as would an increase of the size, complexity, and quantity of in-game systems. Additionally, we would like to see a broader range of options when interacting with NPCs, i.e. the ability to request help, join convoys, etc. The introduction of a much more complex trading system would also be an improvement, such as one with dynamic markets subject to supply and demand issues, which could in turn be affected by convoy movement between bases, for example. An expansion of mission options would also be in order. Finally, an extension of options while landed would be appreciated, along the lines as walking around and speaking to other players, joining factions, hiring escorts, or even more complex operations such as purchasing stores on the base that must then be managed by the player. In summary, we would like to see a major expansion of the complexity and role-playing aspects of the game coupled with improved protection against cheaters.
We thank you for reviewing this petition. Please at least consider a sequel or expansion pack. Thank you, Microsoft and Digital Anvil, for also creating such an interesting game with so many options to choose from. We hope to hear an official response from you.
Thank you so much for your time and consideration.
