    • I am a member of many riding clubs. Horses according to the USDA and the NPS are considered light use on trails and not a threat to the environment, soil erosion and wildlife. Being that they are Prey animals and their manure smells of herbivore, they are more readily accepted as friendly by local wildlife including rare birds in high nesting area's. Humans and dogs are adversary smelling of meat being preditory and wildlife and rare nesting birds retain a fright to flight when such creatures enter the area. Please take this into consideration and I will be more than willing to discuss this in detail to help comprehension of these facts.

    • I suggest those determining useage of the trail system examine the Great Falls Park trails, Manassas battlefield trails, and other such sites before determining horses cause excessive erosion and damamge. Old wives tale. You need the support of the equestrian community to make this trail system a reality, and in the future to help maintain these trails. (I am also a property owner at Lake of the Woods in Locust Grove, VA) Equestrians are some of the best trail maintenance forces around, and are willing to help.
