Free Lady Liberty! Remove the Lazarus poem "The New Colossus" from the Statue of Liberty to restore her original meaning.
The Statue of Liberty is a monument dedicated to freedom and liberty and never meant that foreigners have the unconditional right to violate America's immigration laws. Probably the most misunderstood image in America she is burdened with more wrong ideas than any other symbol in our history. Lady Liberty was never designed as a welcome mat for immigrants. Yet open border advocates have hijacked her!
The statue is at heart a revolutionary symbol for the oppressed to throw off their chains and create their own democracy under law. The real name of the statue is "Liberty Enlightening the World" which states the true meaning. Indeed, the sculptor's intent was for the statue to inspire millions around the world to emulate the freedom of the United States, not to leave home and come here.
The Emma Lazarus poem, "The New Colossus" which is a hymn to immigration, is not inscribed on the base of the statue, as some would have us believe, and has no connection at all with the original vision. The poem's inclusion was a completely separate event, dedicated by some friends of the poet in 1903 after her death.
The Statue of Liberty's intent to inspire people to build their own democratic societies is even more important now that the planet is home to over six billion persons. The huddled masses cannot all be saved by immigration to America. The rescue paradigm of immigration is clearly no longer appropriate, if it ever was. In fact, the "wretched refuse of your teeming shore" threatens to become a permanent underclass.
The Lazarus poem should be removed from Bedloe Island and banished to a dark corner of the Smithsonian as an artifact of another time.

It's a laugh, there is no security. Our law enforcement and judicial system is only about the good old dollar. Police Dept. receive Fed. funds and they say it's not there job to hold illegals. Swat Teams are in the movie business now. They hide outside of a school untell the gunman kills himself before they try to save a child. Npw they will go in and kill a man that wants to commit suicide. If i am right i believe they took an oath to uphold the all laws, not just the one's where there is revenue. They will jump on a bank robber, a kidnapper, a counterfeiter and someone who is committing forgery. So why not illegal aliens? They are all fed. felonies. We have Naturalized Citizen in the asian comunitie's that employe and harbor illegals. It is very common among the Chinese & Vietnamese, 95\% restaurant's.

- The employers saying that they need immigrant workers to survive, mean they want understanding to hiring illegal aliens at $3.00/hr These are not jobs that americans won't do. These are unacceptable pay scales that we can't accept. It is also tax evasion! Children of illegals put a Higher demand on our school systems that we must pay for. People hiring and/or renting to illegals should lose there property like tax evaders. Apprehended illegals should be deported otherwise, there are no checkpoints on the way out. Only the Children born to citizens should be given automatic citizenship.ie children should be able to go from Immigrant to citizen only as there parents do. A U.S. born citizen must apply for his/her foreign born offspring but an illegal aliens child gets automatic citzenship for being born on this side of the fence???
