We, the undersigned, oppose the Golden Gate National Recreation Area's (GGNRA) Draft Dog Management Plan. The plan proposes to either eliminate or severely limit dog-walking access in 21 locations in Marin, San Francisco and San Mateo counties - including traditional off-leash areas like Crissy Field, Fort Funston, Marin Headlands, Mori Point, Muir Beach, Ocean Beach, and Rodeo Beach.

The GGNRA is located in a major urban area with minimal open space, so these restrictions will have a dramatic impact. We believe an acceptable dog management plan must take into consideration the impacts of the proposed plan on neighboring city parks, on the health and well-being of people who enjoy recreational dog walking, and must respect the recreational values that are part of the GGNRAs original mission (to provide for the maintenance of needed recreational open space), which this plan fails to do.

    • Change the laws to punish unresponsible owners. Not the dogs. Leashes don t control anything. The owners do.

    • I understand that all dog owners must be responsible for their pet's behavior, but really--taking away their freedom to romp is just plain WRONG!

    • Cannot believe GGNRA is trying to ram this plan thorugh in spite of the opposition & the lack of studies that prove the bicycles & others do more damage than the dogs! I am appalled at the bullying tactics & injustice that is being done.!

    • I totally oppose this GGNRA Draft Dog Management Plan. I have lived on 2nd street for 18 years now , and always had dogs. As described this is one of the most wonderful walking area's ever, and as a community we have worked hard to preserve it as an open area for our recreation. To be able to walk my dog there every day is essentiel to me.

    • Dog parks are not for all dogs, certain breeds need to really run, sniff, track and enjoy! Mountains, beach, fields, etc.
