We support the Presidio Trusts study for traffic calming measures to mitigate the Doyle Drive impact on our neighborhoods. Without planning, there will be dramatically more risk to the Presidio and the surrounding neighborhoods from more freeway traffic passing through the Presidio to and from the new Girard Street exit off of the reconstructed Doyle Drive. The Presidio is trying to moderate traffic congestion, improve safety, and preserve the park.

We appreciate the Presidio Trusts proactive planning to preserve the safety, character and value of the Presidio and our neighborhoods.

We are neighbors around the Presidio, including Bill Hudson, Henrik Jones, Barbera Brooks, Heather Hilliard, Bill Hilliard, Jenny Emerson, Richard Emerson, Mary Conlin, John Conlin, Christopher Lehane, John Williams, Mary Reilley, James Krieg, John Adair, Lana Adair, Sheila Larson, and Tom Larsen.

    • The impact of the measures from the traffic calming study have made a huge impact on the quality of the park, and our enjoyment of it. It is clear the vast majority of the traffic through the Presidio Gate was commuter traffic, not for the park directly. Our neighbors first reaction was unhappiness their favorite shortcut was removed, but now they are pleased with the quality of life improvement in the neighborhood as well, and they have adjusted easily to new traffic routines. Please make these permanent.

    • i think it is important to close Presidio Blvd in the park due to the future opening of Doyle Drive which will destroy our neighborhood with cars if the Presidio Avenue is the most direct route from the golden gate bridge

    • Presidio Heights is extremely family oriented with lots of children (over 30 under the age of ten live on our block alone). If you want to drive more families out of the city, traffic and reduced safety in our neighborhood is certainly a good way to do it. Close the Presidio access.

    • The Presido is a beautiful park. We surely don't want this to be damaged by urban pollution. In addition the increase in traffic will surely impact the safety of our kids. Do we need this?

    • I support the study as a resident of Presidio Heights and not in my capacity as President of PHAN since I cannot speak on behalf of the neighborhood. It was delightful to walk through the Presidio once the gate was temporarily closed!

    • Complete park wide transport plan, as the city has requested, along with the Girard Off ramp study before approving any new construction in the Main Post.

    • Presidio Traffic has a direct impact on all of the surrounding neighborhoods. That is why there has been a call for a comprehensive traffic and parking management study since 1991. No such study has been forthcoming. If this is done piecemeal, it will be worthless.

    • The closure of the Presidio Ave made a profound impact on our neighborhood. It went from feeling urban to suburban. We moved to Presidio Heights to offer a safe, family-oriented neighborhood to our 4 children. The thought of increased traffic on Presidio Ave, which is ALREADY an extremely busy thoroughfare, is unacceptable.
