    • This Government has totally underestimated the strength of feeling from the electorate who value and love space to breath and natural green space. Green Belt Policy has successfully managed to contain urban sprawl. If the RSS is ratified it sends a clear message to the electorate. This government has no respect for the electorate and are happy to be ousted from government. Shame on you.

    • This expansion of Bristol is not necessary, when there is perfectly good sites within the city with road, rail and bus links already in place.

    • No sensible review of available options has really been considered - use of green belt land should be a last resort

    • The projected demand for the additional houses is based on assumed economic growth. It is now clear such growth will not occur in the short-medium term. It is foolhardy to sacrifice the Green Belt now for some uncertain long-term scenario.

    • The proposed area is very fertile land. Evidence indicates that difficulties with provision of food are set to increase. You the government should facilitate local regions to plan on this basis. The priority for land which is fertile, and strategically placed close to a city should be farming.

    • there are already to many examples of poorly conceived housing developments in the bristol area which are currently stretching the local infrastructure to breaking point. Bradley Stoke is car park at peak times, likewise portishead. The talk of a rapid transport system has seen millions squandered on consultants fee and still no progress. Still no rail link with portishead. The green belt in this area must be protected from this poorly conceived proposal. Government and local authorities should for once put the views and concerns of the voting public as a priority.
