The Halifax Regional Municipality lacks biker friendly options. The few bike lanes in the Halifax Regional Municipality hardly last long enough to take a biker anywhere. Most bikers are forced to bike in the roads, which is unsafe for them, or on the sidewalks, where they could hurt pedestrians.

We demand that all roads in the Halifax Reginal Municipality include bike lanes. Bikes have every bit as much right to roadspace as cars.

    • I can't ride a bike! Make skateboard lanes so we can all shred the gnar in peace!

    • Please!!! I love biking, but due to HRM's lack of bike-friendliness, I don't do it nearly as much as I'd like to. If we want to cut down on the use of polluting vehicles, bike lanes are a complete necessity for the city.

    • This would be a very useful thing for the Halifax Regional Municipality. Also, for those signing, it would probably be better and probably a bit more acceptable if you put both your first and last name to the petition itself. There should also probably be a paper form going around as well.

    • There is no point having bikelanes at all if they don't connect in some way, HRM.

    • I bike several times per week from Hammonds Pl into the Halifax Penn. (~26 K R) along Kearney Lake Rd. I would increase frequency of biking if improved bike lanes were installed (I appreciate the new 2008 added bike lanes along Kearney Lake). Need city to address bike safety concerns along road routes so a more continuous "connected" path is established. Sections along Bedford Hwy and Fairview Overpass are required to make it safe and promote this essential form of eco friendly and fitness promoting travel.
