Dear Prime Minister of India,

The Mumbai Terror Attacks made the people of India realise the urgent need to implement the T S Krishnamurthy's 'Proposed Electoral Reforms'.

Some of the points of the proposal are,
1. Affidavits to be filed by candidates on criminal antecedents, assets etc.
2. Prevention of criminalisation of politics
3. Ban on Government sponsored Advertisements
4. Restriction on the number of seats from which one may contest
5. Negative/Neutral Voting (Voting for None of the Above)
6. Ban on Transfers of Election Officers on the Eve of Elections
7. Compulsory maintenance of accounts by political parties and audit thereof.

We request that there be no further delay in the implementation, because unless these reforms are implemented, we can never have free and fair elections. And how can a Democracy run without free and fair elections?

    • In addition to that, all the candidates should not be eligible got contesting elections for 7 years once they have been rejected by electorate

    • There must be some period for which the rejected candidate can not be a candidate anywhere in India. Otherwise, we will end up the same candidate coming in the fray next time and we will end up paying huge cost of elections via govt exchequer

    • Education is the key for any reform to take effect at grassroot level. This petition is for getting proper legislatory framework in place...but actual efficacy will be achived once the same is communicated to masses loud and clear...People have to stop getting lured by politicians who play their caste/religion cards every time and we follow them like piped piper

    • The rejected candidates should not be allowed to contest again for about 10 years..else we will be in an endless loop.
