This is with respect to the entrance test conducted by IIFT on 27th November 05. I, as a student who wrote the exam, would like to bring to your notice certain problems faced by me, which I believe will affect my chances as well many other students chances of getting /not getting a GD/PI call.

1) The papers were not sealed and were distributed 5-7 minute before the test started. In some centres they were distributed 10-15 min earlier because invigilator were unaware of the correct instructions to be followed i.e. Question papers were distributed before OMR sheets. As a result many students got a chance to glance the through questions & even solve them before the test started. This clearly is not fair to students who are honest and upright. Though the supervisor tried his best to deter people from opening the paper, it wasnt really practical as papers were loose and not sealed.
A time difference of even 5 mins can be a deciding factor and work in favour of person indulging in malpractice over a genuine student, which is a cause of concern for the entire student community who appeared for IIFT exam.

2) At some centres there was precious time lost by the students owing to mismatching between Question paper and OMR sheets distributed by the invigilators. In many centres the mismatching went unnoticed.

3) There were numerous printing errors on the paper. One of the questions in Section 1(Quants), where we had to find the numbers formed with digits 1,2,3,4,5,8(where repetitions are allowed) , the right answer was 18.This wasnt provided in any of the options. Many like me who had solved the question correctly couldnt mark the answer, thanks to the absence of the right option. And in some question papers, the question asked was to find the numbers formed with digits 1,2,3,4,5..(number 8 missing). Then there was another question in Section 2(Di and Logic) where Akshay was misspelled as Akshaya..

Its regrettable that these instances occurred in the conduct of All India Entrance test of IIFT, which is amongst the most reputed colleges of India.

I,therefore request you to re-conduct the exam or take appropriate measures so that candidates can get equal oppurtunity and deserving students make the cut to IIFT GD/PI interview calls.

    • Hve got nothng new to add than whatevr has been said abt the standards in which the test was conducted. It was shocking to say the least. A retest is not an option for IIFT but a 'MUST' IF U R SERIOUS ABT TAKING IN GENUINE STUDENTS..!!

    • Management is the foremost thing a student learns in his MBA, which was something missing while conducting the enterance exam. Its very sad that we strive so hard to be a part of an institute and this is what we get.

    • Govt. of India should seriously consider conducting a single entrance examination for all MBA college admissions, that single examination should be conducted by the Ministry of HR to avoid any this kind of irregularities. In the pretext of examination fees institutes are charging around Rs.1000,this is reprehensible, despite this they aren't able to conduct the exam in a professional manner.

    • Hello, I would also like to know why things are so opaque in the selection process. It should be clearly mentioned whether there are sectional cutoffs are not. The entire mismanagement of the exam by authories will only repel good students from taking admissions to IIFT. I request the authorites to make things more transperant and also allow us to view our scores.

    • It is a matter of shame that a fine institute like IIFT conducted the all India test for admission into the batch for 2006-2008 in a manner so despicable. The list of woes, if ever penned, would be endless. The papers were not sealed and many candidates did attempt questions for at least 10 more minutes that were allotted to other candidates. Question papers were not properly printed with entire sets printed so lightly that the questions were not visible at all. Spelling mistakes, absence of proper answers did not do justice to candidates' efforts. It turned out to be the most unprofessional test that I have ever written. It would be disgraceful if IIFT uses the scores from this test to admit students for the batch of 2006-2008. It is all the more astounding keeping in perspective IIFT having conducted this annual exercise over the years. How can an institute impart quality education of the highest standards if it cannot conduct a test with the slightest instance of responsibility or professionalism?

    • in our centre too the same problem was there..also the invigilators were shouting at top of their voices and we had to literally ask them to be quiet.loss of concentration can be a deciding factor as well as the distribution of papers before.kindly look into the matter.

    • If I can pay Rs. 1000, I am ready to pay a 1000 extra provided the efficacy and transparency of test taking system is ensured. I never believed in efficacy of test taking system for MBA entrence and now that belief has been reinforced by poor standard of IIFT exam.

    • A poor and blatant show of conduction of the exam has forced me to think about the upcoming level of the prestigious institutes like IIFT. The paper is expected to be impeccable but this exam has dashed all our hopes to the ground. Please reconduct the exam so as to ensure its credibility.

    • Mismanaged conduct of Entrance Exam by a premiere management institute reflects the poor state of education of our country, How would anyone expect then these institutes will help us in bringing a professional out of us if they themselves are so unprofessional,Moreover these things shows how these institutes treat their biggest stake holders i.e students,

    • I wrote my test at Bangalore. The test facility was pathetic with no provision for toilet or drinking water in the building. The flooring was not even and hence the writing table was constantly squeaking.
