On March 24, 2004 Microsoft Corporation announced the release of Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition for Pocket PC, a update for the OS and application suite for Pocket PC handheld computing devices
Unfortunately, Hewlett Packard have so far neglected to offer Windows Mobile OS upgrades for the IPAQ 1940/1945 series of handhelds.

Technically, all Pocket PC 2003 devices are capable of supporting the new Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition software for Pocket PC.

So it is correct to say that Windows Mobile for Pocket PC 2003 second edition offers significant benefit to the user and is capable on running on older Pocket PC 2003 first edition devices via a software upgrade.

Without upgrades from Hewlett Packard, users are relegated to purchasing brand new Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition for Pocket PC devices at great expense. Since the IPAQ 1940/1945 is still offered, even brand new IPAQ 1940/1945 owners would soon have an outdated device.

As such, we users of IPAQ 1940/1945 computing devices are requesting that Hewlett Packard offer a reasonable commercial Windows Mobile 2003 Second edition for Pocket PC upgrade service or software package for the IPAQ 1940/1945 handheld computers.

    • There will be another option soon: Linux (http://www.handhelds.org/projects/h1900.html). Even if you don't like Linux, you could sell your 19xx to a Linux fan...

    • This is just silly. I paid for a top-end, for factor device I loved, and now there won't be a SINGLE upgrade offered for it, sans a buggy ROM update??? We all know how you're working HP...you don't want to support your "Low-End' (HA!) models, and make us all buy new ones. If this is the attitude you plan on having, you will lose my business forever. A CUTOMER LOST IS A CUSTOMER LOST FOR LIFE!!!!!
