We, the undersigned, call on the Department of Justice to issue an indictment against former Alaska governor Sarah Palin for incitement to violence for designating Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords with a gun target image at her SarahPAC website at www.sarahpac.com. We believe there is ample evidence from Palin's public speeches and commentary that the image was used with the specific intent of inciting violence against Democratic congressmen labeled with these gun targets. We are also concerned that failure to prosecute Palin and others who have promoted this type of gratuitous violence sets a dangerous precedent.

    • Free Speech is a right, and a great thing, however it doesn't automatically make it RESPONSIBLE speech. If a grade-school student election campaign were conducted like Sarah has conducted herself politically here, it would be soundly denounced with suspensions or expulsions, so, why are political figures of adult age allowed to speak and act this way? It is wrong AND irresponsible, no two ways about it.

    • The use of incendiary hate speech and symbolism DOES have consequences, regardless of freedom of speech. Palin clearly crossed the line of civil discourse and refuses to apologize, even after her handlers tried to call the gun sites "surveyor's symbols"

US jurisprudence may bring you to justice and hold you accountable for your influencing language and theatre of violence that stopped being rhetoric when triggers were pulled.
