The Islamic Republic of Iran has systematically and consistently denied the basic rights of the Iranian people.
This regimeвs behaviour in the repression of the people of Iran is the evidence of crimes against humanity. This regime has established gender, religious, and ethnic discrimination in Iran. It is a regime that stands fundamentally opposed to thinking, to happiness, and to beauty. It is a regime that has assassinated dozens of dissident intellectuals both inside and outside the country; one that has executed many opponents and opposition figures.
This is a regime that in an organized manner, arrests its opponents and critics, and tortures them in solitary cells of the Revolutionary Guard (IRGC), the Ministry of Intelligence, the Police Force, the Intelligence Protection Center of the Judiciary, the Organization of Prisons, and the Basij. This is a regime that for requesting equality of rights with men, arrests women and forces them to confess to uncommitted crimes. This is a regime that has transformed into current government actions the institutional and widespread denial of the rights of all sectors, including workers, students, teachers, youth, artists, writers, and journalists. This is a regime that to the belief of millions of Iranians has stolen the peopleвs vote in the recent presidential elections, has confronted them with brutality, has murdered dozens of people, and has arrested thousands and held them in solitary confinement under physical and psychological pressures which have led to the deaths of some of the prisoners.
We the undersigned, declare the records of the political rulers of Iran to be clear evidence of crimes against humanity. While refuting any schemes of a military intervention on Iran, or that of economic sanctions, for any excuse, we request the worldвs citizens and international organizations to defend the human rights of the people of Iran and condemn the regimeвs repression, intimidation, and discrimination.
The fraudulent and repressive president of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, intends to participate in the UN General Assembly meeting in September. We demand that you do not allow one whose actions are an obvious manifestation of human rights violations into the precincts of the organization that has issued the Declaration of Human Rights. We demand that the Islamic Republic be pressured by international communities to free political prisoners and respect other basic and civil rights of the Iranian people. Our request is for you to utilise every opportunity to condemn any repressive government like the Islamic Republic of Iran that violates basic human rights.
We request that you refer the case of the systematic and widespread violation of the basic rights of the Iranian people to the Security Council, for the Council to approve the case as one of вcrimes against humanityв and forward it to the International Criminal Court (ICC). According to the Iranian Constitution, the president is the stateвs second highest-ranking official and the executor of the constitution. In the repression of the people of Iran, Ahmadinejad has played and still plays a direct role. For this very reason, we request that upon exiting the country, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and others who have played and play a direct role in the peopleвs repression, be arrested and placed in the hands of justice.
