I hereby sign the Petition to Abolish Prison Slavery to remove the offensive EXCEPTION for Slavery and Involuntary Servitude found within the Thirteenth Amendment of the United States Constitution, and inside Americas prisons; with the return of citizenship, labor, human and economic rights for all.

THIRTEENTH AMENDMENT
OF THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION (1865):

Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, EXCEPT AS A PUNISHMENT FOR CRIME WHEREOF THE PARTY SHALL HAVE BEEN DULY CONVICTED, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

TO READ:

Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, NOT EVEN AS A PUNISHMENT FOR CRIME, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.
.

Abolishing this EXCEPTION will create a More Perfect Union without Slavery, and without Slave Masters.

We refuse to accept any EXCEPTIONS for slavery, NOT EVEN AS A PUNISHMENT FOR CRIME, NOT EVEN AS AN ECONOMIC CLASS STATUS, and NOT EVEN AS SPOILS OF WAR!

Thank you for signing.

    • While slavery and involuntary servitude have been widely accepted and formally rationalized as a punishment for crime over the past 222 years, this 96 year old petition version seeks to abolish these and all forms/institutions of slavery, NOT EVEN AS A PUNISHMENT FOR CRIME. This petition further seeks to abolish our outside slaveholder status as tax payers, paying money to support prisons and other institutions of slavery and involuntary servitude injustice. This petition seeks to reverse this long endured evil corruption hidden between two commas, and behind prison walls.

    • In Christ, there is neither bond nor free. All are His children. Abolish prison slavery and capital punishment. Pay prison laborers minimum wage and end unfair competition for job contracts between prison owners and businesspersons in the community. Remove the monetary incentive for America's high incarceration rate - end private prisons. That is easy to do by cutting the prison rolls in half - remove the 1.25 million mentally disturbed inmates to hospitals (where they were before Reganomics) or release them into community care programs, depending on their offenses and ability to manage outside a controlled environment. Kendra's Law participants in New York experienced around 85\% reduction in homelessness, arrests, incarcerations, and hospitalizations compared to three years before they joined the program. Kendra's Law is one of several assisted outpatient treatment programs that combine mandated psychiatric treatment and subsistence assistance. Please also support H.R. 619 for inpatient care.

    • Slavery, even for criminals, is an abomination in 2010, especially in a country that boasts of moral superiority over the rest of the world.
