We the undersigned request that Welsh Rugby's governing body (the WRU) use their vote (and veto if necessary) to select Japan and their Rugby body the JRFU as sole Hosts for the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

We believe it is high time that the sport became truly global and in order to do this we need to look beyond our own short term, myopic tribal ambitions and those of the so called "Founding Nations". We have already hosted the tournament in 1999 and believe it's high time the Cup went to a developing rugby nation, for the good of the sport.

Rather than concentrate on the short term financial gain of placing it in a country that has already hosted it, we ask that you look at the long term benefit that would be gained from opening up the sport to the Worlds second richest nation and the most densely populated region of the planet. They have all the stadia, infrastructure, desire and ability to host the greatest World Cup to date, as they demonstrated to FIFA.

We the Welsh public ask that you make this a WORLD CUP, and not just a closed club.
Make 2015 the Year of the Japanese Rugby World Cup!

Sincerely,

    • Japan were fantastic co-hosts of the Soccer world cup. It is about time that a "lesser" rugby nation were given the chance to host the RWC. Japan, fortunately, I am sure is just such a nation that would provide a fantastic venue and welcome to the RWC.

    • Holding the competition in Japan, would act as a catalyst for the growth of the game throughout Asia. Similarly, the country has the infrastructure and drive to make it one of the most successful RWC's ever.

    • The clue is in the name "World Cup". If this is to be viewed as a GLOBAL tournament then the Japan bid is one we must embrace. They've done it before with the football world cup and I'd expect them to be excellent hosts here, whilst the high profile exposure of the game in Asia can only be a good thing. We got to get away from this closed shop mentality. The progressive approach would be to get behind a Japan bid - the game will be all the richer for it.
