Leave Halloween Alone and Help Keep The Date October 31st.

Sign This Petition To Stop The National Retailer Spirit Halloween's Campaign for Permanent Saturday Halloweens. They are trying to increase their business by changing a holiday permanently. If this is allowed to proceed, the precedent will be for retailers to change holidays as they desire.
If you want to stop this from happening, you need to support our cause by signing this petition for presentation to congress.

    • It's always the 31st. It's not a nationally recognized holiday. Don't muck with history.

    • I see no need to change the date. If it is changed to the last Saturday of the month then we should move Christmas to the second to last Sunday in December because businesses wouldn't have to close on peak shopping days and Churches wouldn't have to have extra services.

    • It's the 31st for an ancient reason - there's no valid reason to change.

    • While the association of Halloween with all Saints Day is becoming tenuous, completely divorcing it would make the tradition rather thoroughly commercial. Let's leave some things alone.

    • moving the date of Halloween is absolutely senseless. The date of Christmas doesn't change, even though no one can pinpoint the date of the birth of Christ (which was recently found to have been in the spring months anyway). Halloween shouldn't change, either.

    • Halloween is an ancient religious time for many, that predates Christmas. Would You even dare to suggest changing the date of Christmas, even though many Christians admit that the date of Christmas is not actually the day that Jesus was supposedly born? Shame on You for suggesting Anyones religious "Holidays" can be changed for other's convenience!

    • This holiday, and it's date, have an historical background and meaning. Those should not be co-opted by a (mediocre) retailer for reasons of increasing their profits. Thank you.
