Sign This Petition To Stop The National Retailer Spirit Halloween's Campaign for Permanent Saturday Halloweens. They are trying to increase their business by changing a holiday permanently. If this is allowed to proceed, the precedent will be for retailers to change holidays as they desire.
If you want to stop this from happening, you need to support our cause by signing this petition for presentation to congress.

- It would be a travesty for a holiday so rich in history, and so centered around a particular date, to be changed for the sake of profit!

- It's supposed to be the night before All Saint's Day, which is November 1. It's a shame that so much in this country is based on the all mighty dollar. Another waste of our tax dollars.

- Halloween is and should stay Oct 31 no matter what day it falls. Ridiculous a retailer could change a Holiday

- As there are those individuals whose religious holiday also falls on this day, I think it would get messy as it would apply to not changing the day more mainstream holidays fall on. Christmas, for example, is both a religious and secular holiday, and will now be celebrated on Saturdays regardless of what day Dec 25th falls on? I think not. At that point it would be discriminatory, in my opinion, and I would be happy to vote against anyone who chooses to discriminate based on religion.

- It is absolutely REDICULOUS that this petition even HAS to be in existance. No retailer, anywhwere, EVER, should have the power to change a holiday, no matter how big or small. The fact that retailers feel they should have this power is asinine. This is Capitalism at it's worst. Leave my favorite holiday alone. Thank you.

- keeping traditional american holiday values is more important than the $$ sales of any one company. I have been in the halloween business since 1984 and I much prefer the fun of a rotating holiday . I habe no religious beliefs to contend with here, just the fun of growing up in america with halloween just as it is

- Moving a holiday to make it more 'lucrative' = American fail. I understand that the holiday had become very popular and therefore generates a lot of revenue but moving it's date isn't key to cashing in. Fans make time no matter what day of the week Halloween happens to fall on. This is morally, ethically, spiritually and financially corruptive, controlling and wrong.

- Halloween is the 31st of October, due to All Hallow's Eve being that night. Keep the tradition alive.

- October 31st. New moon, spooky sounds playing from nearby houses... I know it's always been better when that day is on the weekend. It's not just companies who like it.. I know that. It's not just about money - even though that's what they wanted it to be. But even though we all have to move forward, I don't think we should forget where we came from. That's why, even though some things need to change to make life better for everyone, I ask you, please, don't change the dates of holidays. After all, at one time, that date meant something. To some people, it probably means something still. Though one might say, "This is only Halloween," there are people out there who would think, for example, the same thing about Christmas. Holidays never mean the same to everyone, but we have them for the people whom they mean something to. Please remember that, too, and think very carefully before making your decision on this matter. That's all I ask. Thank you.
