Leave Halloween Alone and Help Keep The Date October 31st.

Sign This Petition To Stop The National Retailer Spirit Halloween's Campaign for Permanent Saturday Halloweens. They are trying to increase their business by changing a holiday permanently. If this is allowed to proceed, the precedent will be for retailers to change holidays as they desire.
If you want to stop this from happening, you need to support our cause by signing this petition for presentation to congress.

    • Halloween, also known as Samhain, is a religious holiday for thousands of American's. Please do not allow the date one of our most important religious holidays be moved for the sake of merchants who want to make money off of the change!

    • All Hallow's Eve needs to remain as is. Holidays should not be at the mercy of retailers!

    • It's not up to retailers to decide what day of the year Halloween falls on. It should remain Oct. 31st. Not everything is about shopping. Those trying to make this change are greedy and should be ashamed of themselves. Will Christmas end up being changed too? Holidays are to be celebrated as part of our heritage, not to make money. When will retailers ever have enough profits?

    • This is SO wrong! I recently heard about this idea and googled it to learn more. Halloween has been my favorite "holiday" since I was a kid. It is October 31st! I don't care about the parents who don't want their kiddies out late on a weekday or the churchgoers who are finding it inconvenient to celebrate Halloween on a Sunday. The day has special meaning... October 31st is All Hallows Eve, with all the myth and legend and magic that surrounds it! To make it just any Saturday would be to dismiss its relevance. We have managed all this time to celebrate Halloween regardless of the day it fell on. I don't see why this should be changed now! I suspect though, that this has more to do with those few who are interested in 'marketing' Halloween as opposed to the desire to make it 'more fun' or 'more convenient' for those of us who actually celebrate it. Maybe we should change Christmas to any ol' Saturday to? To an agnostic like me, December 25th is as much a fantastical day as October 31st.

    • Seriously? Congress, if you want to increase sales of Halloween merchandise, just make Halloween a national holiday. It might upset a few fundamentalist religious types but any lovers of fun will thank you!

    • "Halloween" is an official holiday, recognized by the Wiccan community. No one has the authority to change the date.

    • Leave Halloween alone, it's a tradition that should be kept every October 31st. We don't need government telling us when to celebrate and what time. This is not Red China!
