FEB 19th, A NATIONAL DAY OF REMEMBRANCE

On this date annually, let us remember the
United States Marine Corps Veterans of Iwo Jima.

There was over 22,000 fanatical Japanese soldiers well embedded in tunnels and caves built by Philippinos captured for slave labor.
The Japs radioed Japan, 650 miles away, of our approaching bombers and anti-aircraft shot many down.

Iwo Jima had to be taken.

Facts:

* Iwo Jima was the first native Japanese soil invaded by Americans in WWII.

* More Marines died here than in any other battle in the war.

* 2400 were killed in action on the first day.

* More than 6,891 Marines were killed in action and many died of their wounds aboard ship and had to be buried at sea.

* Over 18,700 were wounded.

* 132 Americans killed on Iwo Jima were unidentifiable and listed as unknown.

* Average ages were 18 and 19 years old.

* Iwo Jima had the highest number of casualties in the
United States Marine Corps history.

* One third of all Marines killed in WWII, were killed on Iwo Jima.

* 27 Congressional Medals of Honor were awarded in the battle. All of these medals were awarded through written recommendations from superior officers who witnessed acts of heroism.

Thanks to the sacrifices in this ferocious battle, 30,000 airmen were saved and 2400 damaged B 29 bombers were able to land safely on Iwo Jima.

Japanese-Americans are trying to steal this date as their day of remembrance because FDR signed the exclusion order to evacuate Japanese from our West coast during WWII on the 19th of Feb.

H.R. 56 was introduced to congress on 2-5-03 sponsored by Mike Honda and has not passed.

After the bodies of our soldiers were recovered from the 3rd, 4rth, and 5th Marine Division Cemeteries, the US government gave the island of Iwo Jima back to the Japanese in 1968.

We have given the Japanese-Americans billions of dollars, apologies, National Parks and permission to revise history.

Lets not give away the memories of our Veterans too.

Our brave patriotic young soldiers that fought and died so violently on this desolate island far from home deserve to remembered and honored forever on this date every year.


We the undersigned beg you to stop H. Res. 56 and designate Feb. 19 as a National Day Of Remembrance for the USMC and the battle for Iwo Jima.
