LUCASARTS HAS DECIDED TO STOP PRODUCTION ON SAM & MAX
"After careful evaluation of current market place realities and underlying economic considerations, we've decided that this was not the appropriate time to launch a graphic adventure on the PC" says Mike Nelson, Acting General Manager and VP of Finance and Operations.

Yes, what you read is 100\% true but first let me explain a little about Sam and Max.
Sam and Max Hit the Road was a game that was released in 1993 using the Lucas Arts SCUMM engine. You play Sam, a full-grown giant dog whose sarcasm is just as strong as his bit. Max is descried as a rabbity thingy and is also Sams confidant. As Max you follow Sam around to help with your missions to find the missing Bigfoot. Sam and Max hit the road is easily recognized as one of the best adventure games of all time.
Recently adventure gaming has been in a massive rut. This rut has been an ongoing hole since 1999. The hole just keeps getting bigger and bigger. Last year (5/12/03) Sam and Max 2 Freelance Police was announced. This announcement gave adventure gamers hope all over the world. Last year Full throttle was announced as well. This also gave people hope that the adventure game industry is coming back together. But, early in November Full Throttle 2 was canceled. The world of adventure gaming was let down once again, but we still had hope. That is until this morning, Wednesday March 3rd when Lucas Arts reviled the cancellation of Sam and Max 2 Freelance Police.
The official press release said this "After careful evaluation of current market place realities and underlying economic considerations, we've decided that this was not the appropriate time to launch a graphic adventure on the PC" this above line in easier terms means we dont think anyones going to buy our game because its an adventure game and adventure games are dead
The point of this petition is to let Lucas Arts know that there is need for Sam and Max 2. That people are willing to play their game. The game has had people drooling all over the world. The press has been going crazy for inside information on the game and with the information they received it makes them crave for more. Thousands of people have been waiting for just a glimpse of the game at this years upcoming E3. If you are an adventure gamer then please sign the petition, it is something that the adventure gamers need, it is something that any gamer would want. Even if you not an adventure gamers just take it into consideration. Sam and Max is a game that is for everyone, no matter what type of gamer you are. I guarantee that you will love this game from start to finish.

    • I don't know much about marketing and all that stuff. But I do believe many people who enjoyed playing the first Sam and Max game on PC would have also liked to play that new Sam and Max game.You should think about this again. Sam and Max 2 seemed to be by far the best new Lucas Arts game. It's games like this one that made Lucas Arts a famous company. Lucas Arts didn't become famous due to all those mediorce Star Wars games. Of course there's no risk develpoing Star Wars games as there'll always be many hardcore Star Wars fans who buy all Star Wars stuff. But the point is that also high quality adventure games can be popular and successful. I mean if the Monkey Island games hadn't been successful there wouldn't have been a fourth one, right? People still love those games. And those games can even appear to people who've never played any adventure games before. I hope you do think about your decision again. Sam and Max 2 seemed to be one of the best games to be released this year.

    • Big mistake LucasArts!! You dont think Sam'n'Max 2 would sell? The only obvious thing to do about that is to fire the marketing staff or whoever made that conclusion. Well, thank you for the adventure titles i enjoyed over the past years, for me it's over now, im not gonna buy LucasArts games anymore..:/

    • I would encourage LA to finish SM2 up like independant games developers: Make it available for download through the LA site for a decent amount of money. Then you don't have to waste money in ads etc.
