No More Tax Hikes!
--> Did you know just since 2002, the Township has raised taxes a startling 48.5\%? Yes thats right, 48.5\%!
--> Did you know that Commissioners are poised to raise your taxes or fees another 16\%-22\% for 2010?
--> Did you know that since 2000, the School District has raised taxes an astronomical 92\%?
--> Did you know that the Township is over $100 million in debt?
--> Did you know that total local debt is $492,775,765 (includes planned Township borrowing for 2010, School District and county debt)?
--> Did you ever think local government would put you a half a billion dollars in debt, and still counting?
--> Did you know that nationwide, 70\% of likely voters now favor a government that offers fewer services and imposes lower taxes than one that provides more services with higher taxes?
(Source: Rasmussen Reports. Americas Best Days. August 26, 2009)

When does it end? When a majority of Commissioners understand that THERE IS A LIMIT to the amount of taxes you can afford.
****************************************************************************
Let your voice be heard and sign the petition below to tell the Commissioners to listen, and:
--> Give you a break! After previous tax increases and raising trash collection fees for 2010 - NO new real estate taxes for 2010
--> Review, identify and authorize only essential spending for 2010 - delay discretionary spending until the economy recovers
--> Impose meaningful limits on the amount of debt Commissioners can impose without a referendum
--> Make government live within its means. Increase 2010 spending at the same 1.5\% level that the Township forecasts 2010 revenue will rise.
--> Reduce the runaway 5.8\% increases in employee salary/wages and compensation to a level in line with what we taxpayers are experiencing (private sector salary/wages and compensation are rising at 0\% - 1.5\%)
****************************************************************************
Commissioners, you have a choice - restrain spending or raise taxes. We the undersigned demand that you restrain spending, and not raise taxes for 2010.

- The 9 commissioners in LMT who consistently opose common sense and are deaf to reason are destroying a great community. You will be voted out of office. And let me add the school board is just as destructive.

- Given the steps taken by many businesses, I would have expected LM to have done a better job of adjusting expenditures as incoming revenue appeared to be at risk.

- If you ran your business the way you are running the Township finance plans, you'd be out of a job or go bankrupt! I think those who vote for unlimited spending, i.e., no caps, should be liable personally for the results, just as you would be in an honestly run business. I wonder how that might change your decisions! Of course, I am assuming that "you" have some business savy!
