SAVE UP TO 40\% ON YOUR MONTHLY MARC PASS!

The State of Marylands Commuter Choice program entitles employees to save 25-40\%* on commuter costs through pre-tax salary deductions. However, the State of MD doesnt participate in its own program! Sign this petition now for the state to allow its state employees to participate. Not only are your taxes reduced, but so are vehicular traffic, road maintenance costs, and pollution. EVERYONE WINS!

    • This is a State program that seems to be withheld from state employees.

    • Attention Governor: This is a major oversight. Your state employees deserve equitable treatment.

    • As the Coordinator of the Commuter Choice Maryland program, I have been negotiating for the past 8 years to convince Central Payroll to establish a Commuter Choice Maryland pre-tax salary deduction for commuter benefits. State workers, no matter where or what mode of transit they take could purchase Commuter Choice Maryland vouchers and redeem them toward a monthly pass to ride Local Buses, Light Rail, Metro Subway and MARC Train. As a result, they would ride for less than full fare. The current "free transit" program in the Baltimore Metro Area costs the state more than $6 million per year in lost revenue. This needs to be stopped in favor of a state-wide, state worker, Commuter Choice Maryland pre-tax salary deduction program where everybody wins and everybody saves. Recently, Central Payroll has agreed to establish this pre-tax salary deduction for commuter benefits, but before it can be created you need to approve the action. The MTA will administer the pre-tax pass program and distribute the vouchers.
