Security Personnel in Malaysia - be it Security Guards, Bouncers, Door Staff, or otherwise, should not be allowed to assault, injure, or harm any patron or individual in any way for whatever the excuse or reason they may have.

Their job is to protect and not take the law into their own hands and do as they deem fit.

Regulations have to come into place to ensure that whoever intends to hire security personnel has to be responsible in ensuring they are adequately trained and certified and have passed psychological and health tests regulated/approved by the Government, including HIV tests, considering the nature of their job and the fact that they may be injured or bleed in the process of their tasks.

These Security Personnel have to be vetted to ensure they do not have any prior criminal or drug records, and should receive regular drug and health tests.

They have to receive extra training should they be provided a weapon, be it a gun or a baton.

They should receive a minimum wage to ensure it becomes a desirable career oppurtunity that will attract proper applicants, and not a last resort.

The management that hires these Security Personnel has to be responsible for the actions of these personnel - legally or otherwise.

Establishments that allow for their Security Personnel to assault, harm, injure patrons and individuals should have their licenses suspended and ultimately revoked should such dangerous circumstances persist.

Malaysia deserves better Security Personnel.

    • I was brought up in K.L and go back every year to visit my family. Earlier this year, my cousins took me out to Zouk, and it is scary and disheartening to hear your story. It is appaling to know that this goes on in the country i call "home". I feel for you, and am sorry to hear this has happened!

    • Safety of Malaysian citizens needs to be taken seriously by the government. This extends across all areas- from this petition to reducing the incidents of snatch thefts, robberies etc.

    • Bouncers do not have the right to hit someone unless they felt there was a threat to their safety. What sort of threat would a helpless girl and her sick boyfriend have on 4 bouncers? Malaysian definitely needs to have better regulation to ensure safety of patrons in clubs and pubs.
