The aim of this petition is to achieve a better relationship between car enthusiasts, Council members and Gwent Police in the Gwent district.

For years Blackwood has been a hot spot area for car enthusiasts, wrongfully classed as "Antisocial" by police and the local council. This is not true. Why should one person be punished for another person's actions?

This form has been made to put an idea forward to the council about giving us (Car enthusiasts) a location outside of Blackwood high street to socialise. This way we wouldn't intimidate the public or local shoppers on a Thursday night, we wouldn't congest the high street or the car parks in Blackwood.

This could help Police form a better trusting relationship with us and enable us to work together with reasonable understanding for each other.

All we ask is for a reasonable location with concrete so we have somewhere to park and have a friendly chat with friends and other enthusiasts etc. No one likes to be told they can't do the things they enjoy, especially when it doesn't hurt anyone.

The names in this form are some of the many car enthusiasts that agree such an area would benefit the community a great deal.

    • If the council works with us as a team and not against us, everybody wins, everybody is happy. simple really. dont be so quick to judge. Why are there so many car shows?? because people enjoy their cars and take pride in them. The council should ask members of the community about the proposed idea instead of ignoring us. It would gain a lot of respect for the council to work with us

    • the council and police have the same problem with off road activities most of the caerphilly area is covered by areas that can be used for lots of activities but all they want you to do is sit in the house watching soaps ..they should be ashamed of themselves

    • the police and council should be aware that this is not a gang of trouble makers and it is a group of ppl that they all share the same interest cars, would it be fair to say that it be wrong to stop someone from painting if the hobbie held was art ? please help the ppl enjoying this hobbie by providing some where for us all to go with out bother to anyone else .

    • Often labelled as "boy racers" some of us are far from that,i'm 36,have a full time job,pay my insurance,tax and MOT,and just love my car and am not interested in going out drinking every w/end,causing damage,getting into fights etc,etc,would be nice to have somewhere to go to just chill and hang out. True,there are some idiots out there,but these are the minority,and give the rest of us a bad name,and we get tarred with the same brush,which is unfair.

    • i think that anti social behavious is an incorrect term, as these people are enthusiasts, bring money into the area, and also are socialising within a group of cars, so its not correct to say its anti social at all, this is a hobby, and people should respect that.
