To Apple Computer:
Many of your customers want an option that has been sorely missing from Mac OS X since the beginning. We want the option to turn on or off mouse acceleration.
There are many reasons why we want to do so. Many of us have used Apple's Product Feedback to ask for this feature over the years, but have been ignored.
We do not have an issue with enabled mouse acceleration being the default; many users are unsure what it is, and are perfectly happy with it.
SteerMouse, USBOverdrive and MouseFix are not necessarily adequate solutions for various reasons.
What we ask for is simple. We want one checkbox added to the mouse preference panel that allows us to turn off mouse acceleration.

- I work with Windows during the day and my Mac at night. I have mouse accel off on Windows, so the constant misclicking due to accel on the Mac frustrates me to no end.

- This is the single biggest downside I have to working on my Macbook Pro (which I do for 12 hours a day every day). One of the very few things I miss about Windows and Linux environments is the natural feel to mouse movements. Coming from those two to Mac, I feel handicapped using the mouse, and it is such a basic low-level thing, I never expected this to be an issue.

- This is a huge problem for graphics applications such as Photoshop, Maya, etc. The Mac default mouse acceleration settings are extremely frustrating when high precision is required. Simply changing the mouse speed is not an acceptable solution.

- I have been a long-time customer, and with the mouse acceleration, which works perfect with low resolution mice such as the Mighty Mouse, makes high-end mice extremely inaccurate. Please give us an option of turn off the acceleration.

- A quick linear response is simply unmatched for users with any dexterity. Adding an option would benefit a whole lot of users at a very small cost.

- its the reason why I use windowsXP on my macbook more often than mac os x. windows xp is simply more productive for me (through proper communication to the computer with the mouse.)

- Mouse acceleration is very annoying - it destroy the simple linear relationship between the position of the physical mouse and the pointer on the screen.

- The option of not being able to turn off the acceleration is ludicrous. This has frustrated people to the point of returning their MAC computers. I have tried to get used to the problem but cannot get accustomed to it. From now on I will simply use windows xp from bootcamp.

- Mouse acceleration needs to be adjustable and or non existent, to have no options concerning this in the OS is ridiculous.
