We, the undersigned, are petitioning to USC Transportation Services to create a regular weekday tram service from the area of Monterey Hills to the Health Science Campus. Monterey Hills (currently part of the 90042 zip code) is an area enclosed by the cross-streets of Monterey Road and Via Marisol. There is currently no direct and efficient public transportation service from Monterey Hills to the Health Science Campus. Additionally, a significant number of individuals (health students, LA County staff, and medical residents, included) who work and study at the Health Science Campus live in the Monterey Hills vicinity. In fact, the Keck School of Medicine often encourages new students to live in the area because of its pleasant location and close proximity to the Health Science Campus. Based on this information, it would be extremely helpful for USC to provide students, staff and faculty living within the area with a morning and afternoon shuttle that directly transports the residents of Monterey Hills to and from campus. The addition of a shuttle to this area would not only reduce traffic congestion along Soto Street and Mission Road but also offset the environmental damage caused by car emissions. Therefore, a tram of this sort would be beneficial even to those who do not live within Monterey Hills. We hope that you will seriously consider our recommendation.

- A Monterey Hills Tram will greatly help those who have to commute daily between home and HSC. This will also help those who commute by car along Soto Street and Mission Road by reducing congestion!

- I strongly support this idea, and would make use of the tram 5 days a week.

- why just the monterey hills area? is it to bias the med students? what about PT, OT, Pharm.D etc who live in alhambra or pasadena area? Who will pay for the extra service? monterey hills residents? or the rest of us? why don't you folks just organize a carpooling system. Heck, live on campus. ZERO commute.

- Tons of students live there. Would reduce demand on parking, traffic, etc. Would need to be scheduled in coordination with MSI and MSII lectures - a single shuttle arriving on campus at 8am and one or two leaving shortly after the conclusion of lecture would certainly be used.
