Residents on Magore Street in DSM, Tanzania, are subjected to loud pounding music from the army starting often at 4-30am -7.00am every Friday morning!
The last few months they have also started pounding metal for 2-4 hours a day!

We also have Diamond Jubilee hall and other venues around that have functions where music goes on till 2.00am or longer in the night. This with Tumaini Hospital being just down the road!

Is it necessary for people to have functions that the entire city can hear???

Research has consistently shown that noise pollution is detrimental to the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual well being on human beings. It also has an effect of the development of children and students, and affects the elderly too.

This is not a first! Complaints have been made to the media and the government numerous times and the issue seems to be getting worse and worse!

Where is the sensitivity of the people organizing these events?

WHEN IS THE NOISE POLLUTION IN THIS COUNTRY GOING TO END!??????

Please sign this petition signaling your desire to have stronger laws and penalties against noise pollution in Tanzania.

    • c'mon all of you, you should go out there with Placards and huge signboards and complain about TANESCO problems, so that the THUNDEROUS DEAFENING SOUNDS OF THE GENERATORS STOP !!! Our Children can't SLEEP the whole night and cannot study in peace during the Day. Complain about all those Generators and tell TANESCO to supply constant power

    • Noise pollution laws are stringent in most of the civilized world including some third world countries but especially so in the west. The lethargy of concerned law makers here show their disinterest in the welfare of their community and makes me wonder where their interests lie? DO THE RIGHT THING!!!

    • In Tanzania or elsewhere in the world, humans disregard and disrespect the soundscape, the acoustic componenet of the environment. This is particularly troublesome when organisations like national armies impose quite avoidable noise on their neighbours.

    • T is very disturbing to see only 28 signatures on a petition regarding such a serious matter. Are there so few of us left with our normal hearing still intact?? Or has all of the noise lulled practically the entire population of this planet to sleep??
