We the undersigned, citizens of the United States of America, believing in justice for all and not just for some, petition the United States Government for a Native American Holiday and Federally recognized History Month. African Americans have a history month and a holiday, therefore, we feel it just that the original inhabitants of this continent receive the recognition that they deserve. Native Americans, from the beginning of - even before - the founding of the United States, have contributed to the culture and history. Children need to be educated about Native American history and culture. We feel to truly live up to what America espouses, that all races need to be treated fairly. Right now, only one race can claim a Federally recognized History Month. We feel that this is one-sided and unfair.

- I think Native Americans deserve a Federally recognized History Month and Holiday. The original Americans have contributed much to our Nation. Citizens and children, in particular, need to be educated on the past, present and future of Native Americans in our society.

- Being American Indian myself it would be refreshing to see that our history, the original history of this country, was taught to children.
