Help the United States return to the moon.
Remember back to the early days of the space program, when the United States was locked in a race with Russia to see who could make it to space and the moon first.
How Russia amazed the world with the launch of Sputnik.
Or how the U.S shot right back with the launch of Apollo 11, sending the first men to the moon.
Over the course of those years we sent a handful of men to the moon, all of which returned alive. We were sure we would go back.
Now that is in question, due to budget cuts and loss of interest. Since the end of the Apollo missions we havent used a vehicle capable of reaching the moon.
We are on the verge of starting use of a new vehicle that is capable of reaching the moon and Mars.
A recent government study showed that NASA doesnt have near the funding to be back to the moon by the expected 2020. In fact NASA has less then 1\% of government funding.
This petition is for the president and congress to fund NASA through these challenging times of our country.
Thank you for reading this and for your support.

- You would think with the gov saying that science and math are the future they would put money into it. I mean it would create jobs by just building and reasearching what we need to complete these goals.

- Please go to the moon, and then to Mars. As the great Stephen Hawking once said, "the human race should not put all its eggs in one basket." A moon mission is important for national pride, and to show that the United States is still the greatest space progam on earth!

- We NEED a Moon base! It's a critical staging point for future exploration projects. There should, very much, be a permanently manned base on the moon.

- Sending manned missions to the Moon is one of the achievements that made the USA great. Why should we stop? To the Moon, to Mars, and beyond. Americans are the sort to push the boundries and find out where the edge of that envelope is... Why should we stop?
