We support construction of a new high school in northeastern Baltimore County. It is time to end overcrowding at our schools and plan for future growth in Baltimore County. We support the efforts of the Perry Hall Improvement Association, the Northeast Area Educational Advisory Council, and other organizations to accelerate construction of the high school, restrict development near overcrowded schools, and require developers to help finance new schools.

    • I support the effort to build a new Northeast High School. The housing in our area and thus the number of children going to school has dramatically increased. Local and state government need to stop thinking about placing bandaids on a problem which has a clear and long term solution available to them. We need to think about the children and providing the best facilities and education we can. Adding additional space and thus students to already large and overcrowed schools such as Perry Hall and Loch Raven are not the long term answer. My wife and I both graduated from Perry Hall High School and now live in the area with our two children for the community and schools. I hope the state and local goverment will give strong consideration to the wants of the community and build a new Norheast High School.

    • Also, we need Baltimore County Schools to request this school as County Executive Smith claims no request has been made to him for such a need.

    • As an educational professional and resident of Perry Hall, I feel that a new high school can only be of benefit to our children. After all, it is all about our children, as they are the future of this community.

    • One of the reasons I moved to Perry Hall was becuase of the great school system. I'm concerned that when my children enter high school they will be forced to learn in a TRAILER !!!

    • The school was overcrowded in 1990 and it has only gotten worse. The saturation of new homes in the area is not helping.

    • How long do our kids have to walk from trailer to trailer before the county is willing to do something positive? (Like building a new school before this problem becomes even more detrimental to our kids' future).

    • When my husband and I first moved to Perry Hall over five years ago, I would read in the local papers about the overcrowding issue at the high school, but figured there would be a solution by the time we had children nearing high school age. Now we have a son who is almost three years old, and I realize that in about 11 years he will be going into high school... and my hopes that Perry Hall will have found a solution by then have severely diminished. I find appalling the look of the high school grounds dotted with trailers. That is not the kind of high school campus I grew up with, and it isn't what I want for my children. If a solution isn't found soon, my husband and I might have to consider moving to a different school district.

    • Perry Hall High School was built with a much greater capacity than that which would facilitate a high quality education. Many thanks to our educators for doing a remarkable job in spite of the handicaps they face from such a dense student population. Economics and politics have superceded the education and welfare of our children in the planning of our schools. We need new high schools with maximum capacities of 600 to 900 children. To add to Perry Hall High's student population is unconscionable. Allow educators, especially teachers, to have significant input into the design of future schools.
