Dear NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell,

We believe that while it may once have been a good idea for the league to enter into an exclusive contract when it comes to video games, it has become very apparant (in our opinion) with the release of "Madden 2010" that a lack of competition has bred complacency. This complacency (in our opinion) has resulted in a rapid deceleration of innovation, and a consistent deterioration in quality and consumer satisfaction from year to year since the exclusive license was awarded to Electronic Arts.

We want you to make an informed decision, and we strongly encourage you to read the comments in the applicable thread on EA's very own community forums, which you can find at: http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/280896.page.

This was a forum started to gauge what peoples general impressions were about the game. However, what it has become is an outlet for scores of gamers that are enraged that a lack of competition has (in our opinion) ruined what was once our favorite video game experience: a quality, immersive NFL simulation.

Again, we want you to make an informed decision, but we believe that once all the evidence has been analyzed by a man of your intellect and character, that you will have no other choice but to conclude that any further NFL exclusive licensing in video games will not only be detrimental (in our opinion) to the future of the NFL video gaming experience, but (in our opinion) it would also be a huge liability for the league itself in this age of the ever increasing importance of "new media" representing any business.

Sincerely,
Your Fans

    • I feel a company works best when in competition. With no competition EA has become stale and lacks a creative direction. Please let other game developers work on an NFL sim because the better the games are the more fans will play it. I became a fottball fan due to playing madden 94 on a Sega. EA really hasnt got the right idea on how to make a lifelike NFL game.

    • The NFL is suffering because EA Sports still can't make a game as good as 2K did in 2004. NFL 2K5 is without a doubt the best NFL game ever made. Please let them make more!!!! PLEASE!!!!!!!

    • Madden has not had any competion for the last 5 years .Due to the lack of competion ,EA sports are selling the same recycled game with little to no changes at ALL in the game. With todays star gazing graphics and gameplay EA should at least whole a certain amount of intergrity to stay up to date with there counter partners. But instead EA would rather just look at the consumer as a market and not a customer, I find these dishearteing to say the less.Me personally I will never buy another NFL football game untill everyone gets a fair chance to make them ,so we the comsumer can decide whats acceptable gameplay and graphics. Also I will do my very best to spread the word about this petiton. If you think I am the only person that feels this way just ,search the web and you will; see all sorts of people who feel the same exact way.The word is getting out ,Please Roger Goodell Im ready for a real football game that gives you the same exact feeling as if I were actually on the FIELD.

    • Im not a Madden hater but and pryor to the license deal I always bought both games. I dont think that EA has made a game since getting the license that makes me beleive that they were not in it to make a better video game but just to recieve all the funds that they would if they were the only team that can make an offical NFL football game. I will never purchase another Madden game until they release the rights back to the video game industry.
