As you know, the print room is closed indefinitely as of today (4-15-08). For the past few months there have been thefts in the print room. There has been money missing from the cash drawer and the amount stolen was growing every week. Kim gave several warnings and had no choice but to close the print room.
However, the demand for on campus plotting makes the closing of the print room unacceptable. Something must be done. We the students of NJSOA ask you, the administrators of the school, to solve this problem. Whether you decide change over to an electronic payment system or just hire someone to run the print room and keep regular business hours, as long as something is done.

- Class assignments at NJSOA require frequent printing and we need a printing facility on site.

- As much as all the students may complain about the print room during the year, we all realize how important having it is. The convience that it provides is amazing, and you can't complain about the prices.

- This is not the administration's problem. The print room functioned perfectly fine for the years that Kim ran it. This is a problem with the students being dishonest, greedy thieves.

- How are there thefts all of a sudden? Amount of prints is not going to decrease in the future, but increase - digital presentation only goes so far and NJSoA is always adding to enrollment. Paying 4x as much at Staples to get a poor print job is not an option.

- It is not fair that we all have to pay for what one person did, but I understand where the decision is coming from. Could we at least have the room open for small prints meanwhile?

- The indefinite closing is not fair to the hundreds of students because one or a few stole volunteers stole money

- We as students understand that theft is a problem here at NJIT. However everyone should not be penalyzed because of one or multiple other peoples actions.

- ASU and Sentate own all the equipment in the print room which makes it their decison to close the print room. Since this closing was not the choice of either party I see a problem in the way this situation was handled

- If retail stores which filter a lot more cash in a day can solve the theft situation by having a camera on top of the cash drawer so that it is visible who's handeling the money, then i'm sure NJSOA can do it too....
