STOP H.R. 4439 NOW!!! - Stop the Pipe Tobacco Tax Increase!!!

This bill proposes to add the same tax on "pipe tobacco" as there is on "RYO cigarette tobacco". This bill if passed would institute an almost 200\% increase in the Federal tax on pipe tobacco.

The pipe smoking community is comprised of a cross section of our country. Young and old, rich and poor, we come from every town, city and state. We are taxpayers and hobbyists. Our hobby is being attacked by the very people that we have elected to represent us. It is time to fight back and tell congress that we will no longer accept this and that we fought against "Taxation without representation" once and we will do it again.

Congress needs to be reminded that WE, the citizens of this country which includes Pipe Smokers, give them their jobs, and we can just as easily take them away. We are not longer going to accept back door dealings that attack our lives anymore. This must stop... and we are going to stop it, even it it means the unemployment lines for our Representatives.

This proposed increase not only attacks us and our hobby, but directly impacts the retailers that are attempting to make a living and contribute to repairing our economy. These increases in taxes not only create a hardship on your citizens but create a hardship on the very business' that we need to repair our failing economy. Stop destroying jobs and lives. Focus on repairing our economy and not destroying an industry that provides work for our citizens and pumps money into the economy.

Your proposed increase in taxes on pipe smokers is equivalent to putting a piece of bubble gum on a hole in the Hoover Dam. The dam will still break and in the process, you will destroy an industry, eliminate jobs and ultimately further increase your deficit by loosing a tax base. Remember, you cannot tax business' that have gone OUT of business. Your proposed increase is going to have a negative effect on this country and in the long run will likely cost you your job.

We as a community, the Pipe Smoking Community, are tired of being lumped in with the cigarette smokers. We are tired of being punished the as if our hobby was causing the downfall of our youth. We are a community of educated, thoughtful people who enjoy Pipe Tobacco as a hobby and not as an addictive substance like cigarettes.

Well, enough is enough. We are standing up for our rights as citizens and saying NO to HR 4439. Our voices will be heard one way or another. We will no longer accept this lack of representation and our Congress making decisions for us. Our voices will be heard... NO TAXATION WITHOUT REPRESENTATION!!!!
