To all fellow residents of West Pearland : A "Low Income Apartment Project" has been proposed at the intersection of McHard Road and Kingsley by the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs. It is heart breaking to see a beautiful neighborhoods such as Shadow Creek Ranch/ Silverlake/ Southern Tails/ Country Place etc having a "Low Income Apartment Project" right outside. This is going to greatly affect the property prices in the surrounding neighborhood as well as impact schools and other public facilities in this area . I am asking for ALL of your help in writing to the City & State Officials against the construction of such a facility in this neighborhood. Please take a minute to sign this petition. The more we speak up against this proposal now, the greater our chance for saving this neighborhood. Please pass this petition on to as many people as possible. Lets save our neighborhood.

    • Please do not put low income apartments in our neiborhood. This would make all the house's value go down, and the economy which is hurting. No one would be able to get there cost out of the home that they bought. And make the neiborhood unsafe for everyone here. I would like to show support for not putting low income housing in our neiborhood. Thank you Chris Dieter

    • I am against this housing project. There are plenty of places in the city of Houston and other areas of vacant land to build something like this. Not here. The property taxes are already too high and with the housing prices depressed. This is a terrible idea.

    • It is not in the community's best interest to put that type of housing there. Property is already hard enough to sell if you want to sell; that would wreck property values. We are working very hard to build a community that we feel safe in. If inner-city Houston is going to move to

    • As homeowners in SCR, we cannot afford to have our property values lowered anymore. I personally witnessed 4 felons break into my neighbors house (They were arrested & pending trial) and they come from low income neighborhoods. I do not understand why The City of Pearland would consider approving this project, especially when we pay MILLIONS of DOLLARS in taxes every year. As a registered voter, if this passes I will make it my mission to get those involved removed from office. Please consider the residents of SCR & DO NOT APPROVE this project.

    • I would be very disappointed with the local leadership if something like this were to take place. I would make sure to campaign to get new leadership to do the right thing for the community.

    • This is the most appalling suggestion ever. I am paying so much in taxes and have seen my property tax rise and my property price go down I cant take this kind of justice anymore will have to leave if that happens. We need leaders that care and not scare

    • We have been living in SCR for 8 years now..we still don't have a library on the west side, or a high school or a recreation center...and you want to spend our tax dollars on a low income apartment project?!?! Is the city giving us a loud and clear message that it is time to get out of here?! I will - if this project is approved...and so will a lot of people that I know.

    • Please stop the low income building in the Shadow Creek Ranch area. This is an outrage. What we were told would come out of this community is not meeting the current situation. We are extremely disappointed and will probably move if the project goes through.

    • This is absurd! Why spend millions of dollars on a beautiful master planned community to have it completely ruined by low income housing? This is a social, political and aesthetic outrage! We moved out of the city to get away from this very thing. This is blatant disregard for our community and those of us who have worked incredibly hard to live in a safe, beautiful and crime free area. WE WILL NOT STAND FOR THIS!

    • I did not move into this neighborhood expecting Section 8 type housing to jeapordize my property values (which already are depressed), or to compromise my families quality of life. Unwanted social behavior is an inevitable outcome from such housing projects as is the likely result of underperforming schools. PLEASE FIND ANOTHER LOCATION FOR THIS FACILITY.

    • This is a terrible idea that will further hurt home values in the area. With the small and large businesses in the area growing, this would be economic suicide on the west side of Pearland.

    • This is unacceptable. Community development should be driven by markets, not government pity projects.

    • I am completely against the low income aprtment infront of Shadow Creek Ranch. This will have a high impact on me and my family. This might as well compel me to sell my house and leave the pearland area.

    • If this is a small project (<100 apartments), I do not object. I particularly object if this is government subsidized housing.

    • I am a resident of Shadow Creek Ranch since 2009. My husband and I were debating between buying in Cinco Ranch at Katy, TX or here in Shadow Creek. We made the decision to move here, and we have not regret it. We have three little kids, and we would like to stay here for many years to come. The low criminal rates and great schools played a big role in our decision of buying our house here. If this project happens, there will be an impact in our community. I vote against the proposal to build low income apartment complex. Right now no one benefits from this project, on the contrary, if it is build, most of the the residents living here ( including my family) as well as the market value of real estate here in Shadow Creek Ranch will be affected. Thank you
